Siemens Terminals are thin client where one can create a connection to a remote system where it exist a configuration to be displayed on these terminals. For example, we can automatically start a remote desktop session which start a PVSS panel shortcut.

The terminal password has to be entered.
To show the Starter window (Terminal Connection Manager) on top of other windows:
CTRL + ALT + End
Holding the Shift key during boot, the device starts in VGA mode.
- On Terminal Server side :
First one need to create a batch script on the Windows Terminal server on which we will call the PVSS shortcut:
- Connect to the dedicated Terminal Server UI04W
NEW: Since July 2010 a dedicated virtual machine UI04w, outside the UI cluster, serve all Terminals
- then into L:\scripts, copy an existing batch file (ie Terminal_ALARMScreen.bat) and modify the path to the desired PVSS shortcut (in G:\online\ecs\shortcut38..).
- Configuring Siemens Terminal thin client :
Go to the Configuration menu: Start->Starter->Configuration (tab)->New(button)->RDP(tab).
- Name: #Choose a name for this connection: UI04W Alarm Screen
- Server: UI04W
- Application: #Path to the script previously created on Terminal server UI04W: L:\scripts\Terminal_ALARMScreen.bat
- User: lhcb_oper
- Password: lhcb oper password should be given by the Online Admins
- Domain: lhcb
- Check "Start automaticaly after 0s" if only this connection will run onto this terminal, otherwise keep it unchecked.
- Advanced settings (button)-> Display (tab) -> select "Full screen" and "True color"
This new connection could now be tested from the Application tab, select it and press connect (button). Finally test auto-startup by rebooting this terminal.
NB: One can also setup several connections onto the same terminal but only one can be automatically started.
Configuration is only required as Thin client side:
- Configuring Siemens Terminal thin client :
Go to the Configuration menu: Start->Starter->Configuration (tab)->New(button)->Local(tab).
- Fill in the name of the ssh connection
- At application menu, select ssh
- As parameter, add ssh command line parameters, like: -X online@plus /group/online/dataflow/scripts/farmmon -dense -all
