Running FEST from your office:

Windows

  • From outside the pit, open a remote desktop connection to lbts01.
  • Once you are inside the pit, open a remote desktop connection to ui01 or ui05w.
  • click on MyComputer then G then online then ecs then Shortcuts311 then LHCb then ECS
  • Click on theshortcut ECS_UI_FSM
  • This opens the WinCC FSM tree of operations panels.
  • Right click on the "FEST" item.

Linux

  1. Open a terminal and login to lbgw01 ( ssh username@lbgw01)

  2. Login to ecs01 ( ssh username@ecs01) (Note: there is a request to use dumdaq01 or hlt01 to offload ecs01)

  3. Start PVSS by typing the following commando in the ecs03 terminal: /group/online/ecs/Shortcuts311/LHCb/ECS/ECS_UI_FSM.sh

  4. A tree widget opens. Click with the right mouse tab on the FEST item

  5. The main PVSS screen opens: if the lock symbole next to STATE is closed it means that someone else is already running FEST. When it is open, click on it and click on take.

  6. Before you run FEST you want to be able to read the log messages, this service is loaded by typing the following command in your ecs01 terminal: errorLog FEST

  7. Three new screens will open and the one in which is called ERROR LOGGER you can change the output from WARNING to INFO.
